Zoe, Undead, by J.R. Knoll

I hate horror movies and I'm not really into science fiction, but I have to admit that I have a soft spot for zombie stuff. Yes, it's sad, but true. And I decided to give Zoe, Undead a 99 cent chance. This book, and its sequel Zoe Undead 2 were pretty entertaining I must say. They need a good editor in a bad way, but I thought the plot and military stuff and the way they kept me wanting to know what happened was pretty brilliant. The main character is an autistic teenager, making this a unique way to approach the genre. The author is a guys, guy. Heads blow off and he talks about girls the way a guy does. Recommended for fellow zombie lovers like me. 99 cents or free to borrow with Amazon Prime.

The Christmas Cowboy, by Shanna Hatfield

Kenzie Beckett does not trust men, especially rodeo cowboys. But along comes Tate Morgan and he might be more than she ever bargained for. This was a sweet romance that feels very Christmasy and Cowboy-ee (I know those both aren't real words). The Christmas Cowboy would be a nice book to curl up with while gazing into a fire around Christmas time.

The author, Shanna Hatfield, is on a blog tour this week with the Cowboys and Christmas tour to kick off a promotion she's doing with the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund. Now through Dec. 24, She’ll donate ten percent of the net proceeds from all her book sales to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund. The JCCF is a non-profit organization that assists rodeo athletes who’ve sustained catastrophic injuries and are unable to work for an extended period. She learned about this great organization while researching the first book in the Rodeo Romance series, The Christmas Cowboy.

The Husband Maker, by Karey White

Charlotte already has embarrassing nicknames. Her twin brother and his best friend call her Chuck and Chuckers and Charles every chance they get. But at a wedding reception for an ex-boyfriend Charlotte overhears someone call her a nickname she never wants to hear again: The Husband Maker. Every guy Charlotte's ever dated has gone on to marry their next girlfriend. So begins this fun novel that was funny and sweet and made me want to run out and get the next book. (Yes, this is a series so don't freak out when it ends suddenly) I highly recommend this fun read and I'm grabbing the next book and not waiting to borrow it. Free to Borrow with Amazon Prime or $3.99 on Kindle.

Chosen, by Barbara Ellen Brink

This is the first book in the Amish Bloodsuckers series and I totally inhaled this book. I haven't done that in a while so it was a pleasant surprise. Jael is a teenage girl who would love to be normal but doesn't have a chance. The reason: She's destined to be a vampire slayer and save her family from the grips of a vampire coven controlling her parents' Amish community. That's a lot for a 15-year-old to take in, but she's up to the challenge. This book is FREE right now so go get it, like right now!

Tattler's Branch, by Jan Watson

I found this book free on Amazon for a promotion and it looked interesting. I'm really glad I tried it. Other reviewers mentioned that there is a first book in the series called Skip Rock Shallows that is more of a Christian Historical Romance. I think a lot of readers were hoping for more of that style. I really enjoyed this book as is. It fell more into the category of Christian Historical Mystery. The book opens with Armina witnessing a murder and then falling ill before she can tell anyone about it. Everything else works around this important opening event. The book then focuses mainly on Lilly, the town doctor, who finds out she is pregnant while her husband is away working on a coal mine incident. It wasn't as suspenseful as a true mystery, but highly satisfying and entertaining throughout. 9.99 on Kindle

Robin: Lady of Legend by R.M. ArceJaeger

I enjoyed the way the author played with the classic Robin Hood tale. In this version, Robin is actually Robin of Locksley, an 18-year-old girl who finds herself suddenly betrothed to the horrible Sheriff of Nottingham. She runs off disguised as a man, and the rest is history. The book held my attention throughout, but I thought that sometimes Robin got away with making really rash decisions with little consequence. 2.99 for Kindle or Free to borrow. Recommended.
